The first CCS Gas Membrane Installation Training was held at our training facility on the 26th April.
The candidates, who are all looking to increase their knowledge and skills when installing gas membranes, undertook a classroom session that included information on ground gases and their possible effects. Verification was then covered, but uniquely, from a “what to expect as an installer from the independent verifier” point of view. All candidates then went through an extended hands on practical session covering all aspects of installation including jointing with tapes and by welding and detailing pipe penetrations and corners.
All practical work undertaken by the candidates was then verified, as it would be on site. A pick probe, air lance and dielectric porosity testing machine were all used to demonstrate just how thorough independent verification should be.
We were very impressed by the quality of the practical work undertaken by the candidates and look forward to working with them on gas membrane installations in the near future.
A big thank you to CCS (Confederation of Construction Specialists) for running the course, and Neil Salvidge of PAG and Paul Colbeck of Geoshield for their excellent training on the installation and verification respectively.
